The Vought F4U joined the Marine Corps in February 1943 and became one of the most successful American fighter aircraft of all time. Ken Walsh, Gregory Boyington, and other Marine Corsair pilots became household names in America during the war, thanks to newspaper headlines and movie newsreels highlighting their aerial victories against the Japanese in the Pacific theater.
