Charles B. Falls created this poster in the spring of 1918 for the American Library Association’s (ALA) War Service Committee. The ALA used poster campaigns throughout the war to encourage book donations for camp libraries for service men overseas and in the United States. For this campaign, Falls also designed a companion bookplate to go inside donated books to recognize the donors. The campaign was hugely successful. By the end of 1918, the ALA had distributed over 7 million books and periodicals to camp libraries in Europe, on the home front, and in hospitals.
